Frances Dufek was born circa 1855 in Bohemia.3 She was the daughter of (?) Dufek.2 Frances married Johann J. Pliska, son of (?) Pliska and Aneska (?). Frances and Johann had at least seven children. Their son's name is not known but the names of their six girls are known. These children are Antoinette Cecilia, Mary Ann, Anna Madeline, Emma Beatrice, Frances Mary and Agnes Alice.3 Frances and Johann immigrated in 1888 to the United States of America. They may be the Pliska family that came through Port Baltimore on the ship Strassburg which landed on 23 May 1887. This will need additional research. Family stories indicate that one of the girls was sick with chicken pox and the entire family was detained at the hospital until she recovered.4 Frances also went by the name of Fannie after coming to the United States.3 Frances died on 26 December 1894 in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.5 She and Johann were buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.3,6 Frances is the earliest known progenitor for this family.
