     Anna Madeline Pliska was born on 2 January 1882 in Bohemia.3 She was the daughter of Johann J. Pliska and Frances Dufek.1 She immigrated with her parents in 1888 to the United States of America. They may be the Pliska family that came through Port Baltimore on the ship Strassburg which landed on 23 May 1887. This will need additional research. Family stories indicate that one of the girls was sick with chicken pox and the entire family was detained at the hospital until she recovered.4 Follow the link to see a picture of Anna and her sister, Antoinette. Anna, age 18, was enumerated in the household of her father on the 1900 Federal Census in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.1 Anna worked as a shirt maker. Follow the link to see the census image.
          Anna married Frank Bartholomew Bilek, son of Frank Bilek and Anna Wolf, on 4 June 1900 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.5 They had a double wedding with her sister, Frances. He was 22 years old; she was 18.5
          Frank, age 22, and Anna, age 18, were enumerated on the 1900 Federal Census at 223 North 23rd Street in South Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. They rent their house.6 Follow the link to see the census image. Anna and Frank had three children. These children are Frank John, Rosalind Ann and Arthur John.7 Between the time that Frank was born (1900) and when Rosalind was born (1903), Anna and Frank lived in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Before Arthur was born (1907), they moved back to Omaha.8
          Frank, age 43, and Anna, age 39, were enumerated on the 1920 Federal Census at 3928 S (or D) Street in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Frank (age 19), Rosalind (age 16), and Arthur (age 12).9 Follow the link to see the census image.
          Frank, age 52, and Anna, age 48, were enumerated on the 1930 Federal Census at 3012 48th Avenue in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. Also enumerated in this household were their son, Arthur, age 22, and his wife, an unknown person , age 19. They rent their house for $30 monthly and they have a radio.10 Follow the link to see the census image.
          Frank died on 31 October 1946, leaving Anna a widow.11 Anna died on 29 October 1951 in Tecumseh, Johnson County, Nebraska.5 She was 69 old. The cause of death was given as cancer of the back. She died with her son-in-law's care and in his hospital.7 She was buried at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.5
