Johann married (--?--) Thomas, daughter of Sadie (--?--), on 23 May 1899.5 Listed with Frederik Lewis annd Sarah. Johann and (--?--) may have had numerous children but I only know the name of one child, Ethel Christina. Johann George married Catherine Louis on 30 May 1906. With no end in sight for World War I, the United States instituted its third and final draft registration. It included all men who were between the ages of 18 and 21, and 31 to 45 years of age. This added younger men than the previous registrations, those who were born between September 12, 1897 and September 12, 1900; and added an older group of men, born between September 12, 1873 and September 12, 1888. George filled out a draft card on 12 September 1918 in Cincinnati. He was 41 years old. His address was 209 E. Liberty in Cincinnati. He works at U.S. Printing Company. He was described as short with a stout build. He was black eyes and dark hair.7 Johann, age 43, was enumerated in the household of mother-in-law, Mrs. Sadie Thomas, on the 1920 Federal Census at 209 Liberty Street in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. Also enumerated in this household are 18 year-old Ethel Macke (who I assume is George's daughter) and 4 year-old Frank Macke (who I assume is George's nephew).8 Johann worked as a printer who does "printing work."
