     Herman Joseph Macke was born circa December 1872 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. He was the, son of Johann Clemens Macke and Elisabeth Voll. Herman was baptized on 10 December 1872 in St. Paul, Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. He was the son of Johann Clemens Macke and Elisabeth Voll. He probably followed German naming customs and went by the name of Joseph. Herman died on 3 July 1873 in Cincinnati. He was about 7 months old. He was buried at St. John's Cemetery in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.
