According to Grace Kelso Garner, Andrew and Mary purchased land,
"[b]etween the North River and Big Capon, beginning at 3 white oaks on a stony ridge, granted by Thomas Lord Fairfax to Evan Pugh by deed 13 Apr 1752; another tract adjoining the former, beginning at two chestnut oaks in Evan Pugh's line at the foot of a hill, thence along his line . . . containing 107 acres, grand by Thomas Lord Fairfax to Andrew Millslagle 10 Oct 1774." This land was originally surveyed by George Washington. Andrew also transferred all of his rights, title and interest "to all stock, cattle, horses and farming utensils, and everything on the premises which can be designated personal property except the household furniture, and all other personal property which may be mine or supposed to be mine, a"nd all houses, buildings, orchards, ways, waters, etc.
Jacob and Elizabeth moved into his father's home. This is a transcription of the deed:
"This indenture made the twentieth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine BETWEEN Andrew Millslagle and Mary his wife of the one part and Jacob Millslagle of the other part WITNESSETH that for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and seventy pounds current money of Virginia to the said Andrew Millslagle and Mary his wife in hand paid by the said Jacob Millslagle at or before the sealing and delivery of these said presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth release, acquit and discharge the said Jacob Millslagle, his executors and administrators by the presents the said Andrew Millslagle and Mary his wife have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, relaeased and confirmed and by these presents do bargain, selll, alien, relase and confirm unto Jacob Millslagle and his heirs the following described and specified lands of land one of which is bounded as followeth as by the original survey thereof made by George Washington viz . . .For good causes and valuable consideration do hereby convey, assign, transfer and release to the said Jacob Millslagle all his right, title and interest of in and to all the stock viz; cattle, horses and farming utensils and everything on said land and premised which can be designated personal property except the household furniture and all other personal property which may be mine or supposed to be mine is hereby conveyed to said Jacob Millslagle forever, and all houses, buildings, orchards, ways, waters, watercourses, profits, commodities, herediatments and appurtneances whatsoever to the said premises the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues, and profits thereof and also the estate, right, titled interest, use, trust, property and demand whatsoever of them . . ."
