     Ralph L. Millslagle was born on 28 March 1913 in Iowa.^1,2,3,4 He was the son of John Ernest Millslagle and Alta Carrie Collander.⁵ Ralph, age 6, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1920 Federal Census at 3900 1st Street in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa. Ralph, age 17, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1930 Federal Census at 3624 Columbus in Des Moines.⁷ Ralph worked as a folder for the newspaper.⁷ Follow the link to see the census image.
          He enlisted on 22 June 1942 in the Army at Ft. Des Moines, Iowa. He was a resident of Polk County, Iowa at the time of his enlistment. He was inducted as a private and was to serve for the "duration of the War or other emergency plus six months. . ." His civilian occupation was classified as a warehouse foreman. He had completed three years of high school. He was single and without dependents.⁸
          I suspect that he married but his wife's name is not known. He had 4 children; 2 boys and 2 girls. Their names are not known.⁵ In 1977, Ralph was living in Creston, Union County, Iowa.⁵
          Ralph died on 14 December 1996.¹ He was 83 years old. His Social Security Number was 478-10-4830 and was issued in Iowa.¹ According to the SSDI, his last residence was in Creston.⁹ He is the 3rd great-grandson of Johann Andreas Mühlschlägel, original immigrant.
