     William H. Millslagle was born in 1892 in Illinois.^1,2,3 He was the son of Charles Henry Milslagle and Clara C. Swanson.⁴ William, age 18, was enumerated in the household of his mother on the 1910 Federal Census in Lewistown, Fulton County, Illinois. He has attended school since September 1909.⁵ William worked as a farmer.⁵ Follow the link to see the census image. William, age 23, was enumerated in the household of his aunt, Mary, and uncle, George W. Brody, on the 1920 Federal Census at 620 Union Street in Kewanee, Henry County, Illinois. His future wife (they get married 6 months after this enumeration) and her family also live in this apartment building.⁴ William worked as a laborer doing "boiler work."⁴ Follow the link to see the census image.
          William married Louise Meloen, daughter of Leo Meloen and Anna Gaunch, on 19 June 1920 in Kewanee.⁶ He was 24 years old; she was 16 years old. William and Louise had at least 3 children. These children are Phyllis, Marjorie and Vivian.⁶
          William, age 35, and Louise, age 26, were enumerated on the 1930 Federal Census at 126 N. Union Street in Kewanee. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Vivian (age 9), Marjorie (age 6) and Phyllis (age 2 years and 6 months). Their house is valued at $800. They have a radio.           They farmed land near in Ipava, Fulton County, Illinois, between 1957 and 1965.⁶ William died in 1995.⁶ He was about 98 years old. William was listed as the husband of Mrs. Louise (Meloen) Millslagle in the obituary published on 22 July 1999 in Peoria Journal Star. Click on the icon to read a transcription of the text.⁶
          He is the 3rd great-grandson of Johann Andreas Mühlschlägel, original immigrant.
