     Cornelius Ashbrook Baker was born on 22 May 1819 in Hampshire County, Virginia.1 He was the son of Cornelius Baker and Phebe Switzer.1
          Abraham, age 41, and Cornelius, age 40, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census for the Pleasant Site Post Office in Speedwell Township, St. Clair County, Missouri. Also enumerated in this household were their suspected sister, Louise and brother-in-law, Abraham Millslagle, along with their children. Abraham Baker, Cornelius, and Abraham Millslagle are all listed as farmers. The Bakers are the land owners (Abraham and Cornelius own $4500 worth of land each).
