Joseph Hiett1

     Joseph Hiett was born on 11 June 1774.2 The 1790 census records for Virginia have been lost. Other sources for residence information will need to be found. The 1800 census records for Virginia have been lost. Other sources for residence information will need to be found. Joseph married Alice Sutton. They had at least 6 children who have not been entered in this database. They are: John (1803-1883, married Julia Ann Stump), Evan (1806-1886, married Jane L. Easter), Eleanor (born 1810, married Joseph Snapp, Jr.), Samuel Sutton (born 1813, married Sarah Parks and Anna Parks), Sarah (1815-1863, married Benjamin Pugh), and Margaret (1817-1848, married Lemuel Pugh).1 Joseph died on 24 January 1860.1 He was 85 years old. He and Alice were buried in Sandy Ridge, Hampshire County, Virginia. Sandy Ridge became part of West Virginia in 1864.3
