     Robert Wyngate was born say 1508 in Sharpenhoe, Bedfordshire, England.2,3 His occupation is listed as "Gentleman."4 Robert married Joan Porter.4 Robert and Joan had at least 2 children. These children are Margery and Edmund. Robert died in 1555.5
          According to Scott Robinson, Robert is an ancestor of Abigail (Smith) Adams who was the wife of John Adams, America's second president. He is also an ancestor of the following presidents as well: John Quincy Adams, William Henry Harrison, and Benjamin Harrison.5 Robert is the earliest known progenerator for this family.
