Samuel Lobdell was born on 2 February 1699 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut.¹ He was the son of Joshua Lobdell (I) and Mary Burwell.¹ According to Sallinger, after the death of their mother, Joshua (the elder), moved with his children Ridgefield, Fairfield County, Connecticut in 1712.¹ Samuel married Rebecca St. John, daughter of Samuel St. John and Rebecca Olmstead.¹
