     Lawrence Hoover was born circa 1862 in Alace-Lorraine, France.^1,2 Lawrence immigrated in 1890 to the United States, from France. Before 1930 he had become a naturalized citizen.¹ Lawrence married Sophia (?) circa 1889.¹ He was 27 and she was 18 years old.³ They had at least 7 children but not all of their names are known. The known children are Emma, Raphiel L., Bertha, Henry, Lottie and Deuzell.¹
          Lawrence, age 57, and Sophia, age 48, were enumerated on the 1920 Federal Census in North Bend Township, Starke County, Indiana. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Bertha (age 25), Henry (age 23), Lottie (age 20), Emma (age 18), Deuzell (age 15), and Raphael (age 9). Also living in the house is their widowed son-in-law, Fredrik Wise, and his children, Damion (age 9), Herman (age 7), and Clement (age 2 years and 7 months).           Lawrence, age 68, and Sophia, age 59, were enumerated on the 1930 Federal Census in N. Bend Twp. Also enumerated in this household were two of their children: Raphiel (age 19) and Emma Milslagle (age 28). There are also two grandchildren in the home: Emma's son, Donald (age 2 years) and Clement Wise, (age 12 years).
