William Martin was born say 1810 in Hampshire County, Virginia.² He was the son of (?) Martin.¹
In 1834 or 1835, William moved to Sangamon County, Illinois.¹ William married Nancy Torrence.¹ William and Nancy had four children: Mary J. (married Edward George), Sarah E. (married D. F.
