Andrew Milslagle was born circa 1817 in Hampshire County, Virginia.1 He was the son of Jacob Milslagel.1 He may have been enumerated on the 1820 census for Hampshire Co in the household of his father as a male aged from newborn to ten years old.2 Follow the link to see the census image. , 1820 U.S. Census, Hampshire County, Virginia, page 221, line # He may have been enumerated on the 1830 census for Hampshire Co in the household of his father as a male aged fifteen to twenty years old.3 Follow the link to see the census image. 1830 U.S. Census, Hampshire County, Virginia, page 38 Garner states that Andrew Milslagle is on the census in the household of Philip Wessels as Andrew M. Slagle. How did she conclude that Andrew M. Slagle was our Andrew and not someone with the last name of Slagle? I have found the surname Slagle in other areas before.4 He is the great-grandson of Johann Andreas Mühlschlägel, original immigrant.
