Mary Jane Millslagle was born in 1833 in Indiana.^1,2 She was the daughter of Jacob Milslagel.³ Mary married John R. Hire in 1853 in Iowa. She was about 20; his age is unknown.⁴ Mary married Thomas J. Drennan on 5 March 1879 in Scott County, Iowa.^5,6 He was about 46 years old; she was 45.⁴ Mary and Thomas may have had numerous children but I only know the name of one child, Bell.⁷
Thomas, age 46, and Mary, age 35, were enumerated on the 1880 Federal Census in Auburn, Sangamon County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household was their daughter, Bell, age 6.⁷ Follow the link to see the census image. Mary died in 1888 in Illinois.³ She was about 55 years old. She is the great-granddaughter of Johann Andreas Mühlschlägel, original immigrant.
