Erastus Ackley was born on 24 September 1813 in New York.¹ He was the son of Daniel Ackley and Asenith (?).¹ Erastus married Ariadaney Caison on 12 April 1833 in Morgan County, Ohio.¹ He was 19 years old; she was 23 years old. He purchased land on 10 March 1856 in Vinton, Vinton County, Ohio.¹ Erastus died on 19 September 1862 in Vinton County, Ohio.¹ He was buried in Ackley-Bolte Cemetery in Ross County, Ohio.¹
