     Mary Ann Milslagle was born circa 1816 in Virginia.^1,2 She was the daughter of George Milslagel (Junior) and Axsha Cheshire.³ She may have been enumerated on the 1820 census for Hampshire County, Virginia in the household of her father as a female aged from newborn to ten years old.⁴ Follow the link to see the census image. She may have been enumerated on the 1830 census for Hampshire Co in the household of her father as a female aged fifteen to twenty years old.⁵ Follow the link to see the census image.
          Mary married James W. Powell circa 1839 in Virginia. They were both 23.¹ Mary and James had 4 children. These children are Joseph F., James R., Mary E. and John C..¹
          James, age 34, and Mary, age 33, were enumerated on the 1850 Federal Census in District #24, Hampshire County, Virginia. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Joseph (age 10), James (age 8), Mary (age 6) and John (age 4). Barbara Milslagle, Ann's sister (age 38), also lives in this household.⁶ Follow the link to see the census image.
          She is the great-granddaughter of Johann Andreas Mühlschlägel, original immigrant.
