Samuel Cheshire

     Samuel Cheshire was born circa 1815 in Virginia.1,2 He was the son of Uriah Cheshire and Mary (?).3 Samuel married Elizabeth E. Milslagle, daughter of George Milslagel (Junior) and Axsha Cheshire, circa 1836 in Hampshire County, Virginia. He was about 21 and she was about 17.3 Samuel and Elizabeth had at least 9 children. These children are Uriah J., Jacob W., Margaret C., Nancy J., Caroline M. and Mary Ann.3,4
          Samuel, age 35, and Elizabeth, age 31, were enumerated on the 1850 Federal Census in District #24, Hampshire County, Virginia. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Uriah and Jacob (twins, age 12), Margaret (age 10), Nancy (age 7), Caroline (age 5), and Mary Ann (age 2). George (Elizabeth's father, age 65) also lives in the household.5 Samuel worked as a farmer.           Samuel, age 43, and Elizabeth, age 42, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census in Hanging Rock, Hampshire County, Virginia. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Nancy (age 17), Caroline (age 15), Mary Ann (age 12), Sarah (age 10) and George (age 6). George, Elizabeth's father, was also living in this household.4 Samuel worked as a farmer. His real estate is valued at $3000 and his personal estate is valued at $100.
