     Elias Millslagle was born on 20 February 1805 in Hampshire County, Virginia.^1,2,3,4 He was the son of Johann Jacob Mühlschlägel and Elizabeth Cooper.⁵ He may have been enumerated on the 1810 census for Hampshire Co in the household of his father as a male aged from newborn to ten years old.⁶ Follow the link to see the census image. He may have been enumerated on the 1820 census for Hampshire Co in the household of his father as a male aged from ten to sixteen years old.⁷ Follow the link to see the census image.⁷ Elias is believed to have never married. According to Garner Elias Millslagle lived his entire life in Virginia (West Virginia).¹ He may have been enumerated on the 1830 census for Sandy Ridge, Hampshire County, Virginia in the household of his father as a male aged twenty to thirty years old.⁸ Follow the link to see the census image.
          Elias, age 45, was enumerated on the 1850 Federal Census in District #24, Hampshire County, Virginia. Also enumerated in this household was his sister, Hannah Millslagle], age 52. His real estate was valued at $600.⁹ Elias worked as a farmer.⁹ Follow the link to see the census image. He administered the will of his sister, Hannah (Millslagle) Pennington; Her will mentions Eva Ann Millslagle who administered the estate.⁵
          Elias, age 50, was enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census in North River Mills, Hampshire County, Virginia.¹⁰ Elias worked as a farmer. His real estate is valued at $4000 and his personal estate is valued at $955.¹⁰ Elias, age 64, was enumerated in the household of his niece, Mrs. Frances Selena (Millslagle) Creswell, on the 1870 Federal Census for the Forks of Capon Post Office, in Blooming Township, Hampshire County, West Virginia.¹¹ Follow the link to see the census image.
          Elias, age 74, appeared in the household of Benjamin Kump (his nephew-not entered into this database) on the 1880 Federal Census of Cacapon Magisterial District, Hampshire County, West Virginia.¹² Elias worked as a farmer.¹² Follow the link to see the census image.
          Elias died on 25 March 1885 in Hampshire Co.¹ He was 80 years old. He was buried in Shiloh Cemetery in Concord, Preston County, West Virginia.¹ He is the grandson of Johann Andreas Mühlschlägel, original immigrant.
