     William Millslagle was born on 18 September 1839 in Sangamon County, Illinois.1,2,3 He was the son of Andrew Millslagle and Jane Waddell.1 He may have been enumerated on the 1840 census for Sangamon Co in the household of his father as a male aged newborn to five.4 Follow the link to see the census image. Andrew Milslagle household, 1860 U.S. Census, Springfield (District 16), Sangamon County, Illinois, population schedule, page 310, dwelling #2210, family #2224 William served in the military during the Civil War. He and his brother, Jacob, enlisted on 11 August 1862 as privates in E Company, 114th Infantry Reg IL. When he enlisted, he claimed residence in Cotton Hill, Sangamon County, Illinois. He served until 17 Apr 1863 when he was discharged due to a disability.1,7,8 William died on 9 July 1863 at his house in Sangamon Co, from "diseases contracted in the Army.".1,9 He was 23 years old. He is the great-grandson of Johann Andreas Mühlschlägel, original immigrant.
