     Mary Jane Millslagle was born circa 1853 in Virginia.^1,2,3 She was the daughter of Jacob Milslagle (Junior) and Margaret (?).⁴ Mary has also been reported as being born in 1855.⁵
          Mary, age 7, was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1860 Federal Census in Smith's Gap, Hampshire County, Virginia.⁶ Follow the link to see the census image. Mary, age 17, was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1870 Federal Census for the Romney Post Office in Sherman Township, Hampshire County, Virginia.⁷ Follow the link to see the census image.
