     Louise Eliza Baker was born on 31 December 1823 in Hampshire County, Virginia.1,2,3,4,5 She was the daughter of Cornelius Baker and Phebe Switzer.6 Louise married Abraham Millslagle, son of Johann Jacob Mühlschlägel and Elizabeth Cooper.1,7 Louise and Abraham had at least 7 children. These children are James H., Andrew S., Nancy V., Mary, Margaret J., Sarah E. and Joel Wesley.
          Abraham, age 30, and Louise, age 26, were enumerated on the 1850 Federal Census in District #24, Hampshire County, Virginia. Also enumerated in this household were their children: James (age 5), Andrew (age 3) and Mary (age 1). NOTE: They are reported to have had a daughter, Nancy born in 1849. There is not a Nancy on this census but there is a Mary that was born in 1849.8 Follow the link to see the census image.           Abraham, age 40, and Louise, age 34, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census for the Pleasant Site Post Office in Speedwell Township, St. Clair County, Missouri. Also enumerated in this household were their children: James (age 15), Andrew (age 12), Mary (age 10), Margaret (age 8), Sarah (age 6), and Joel (age 1). Enumerated with them are Louisa's brother, Cornelius Ashbrook Baker, and another suspected brother, Abraham Baker. Margaret, Sarah, and Joel are all listed as being born in Virginia.10 Follow the link to see the census image.           Abraham, age 52, and Louise, age 46, were enumerated on the 1870 Federal Census in Richfield, Adams County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Andrew (age 22, farm labor), Margaret (aged 18, has attended school in the last year), Sarah (age 16, has attended school in the last year), and Wesley (age 11, attends school). Abraham's sister, Rebecca Milslagle, age 46, also lives with them. His land was valued at $6400 and his personal estate was valued at $1244.11 Follow the link to see the census image.           Abraham, age 60, and Louise, age 57, were enumerated on the 1880 Federal Census in Richfield.           Abraham died on 26 August 1897, leaving Louise a widow.13 Louise died on 14 February 1899 in Plainville, Adams County, Illinois.14 She was 75 years old. She was buried in Shiloh Cemetery in Plainville.15
