Jacob Loy was born circa 1784 in Frederick County, Virginia.^1,2 He was the son of Daniel Loy and Anna Christina Mühlschlägel.¹ The 1790 census records for Virginia have been lost. Other sources for residence information will need to be found. The 1800 census records for Virginia have been lost. Other sources for residence information will need to be found. Jacob married Mary Slane in Virginia.¹ Jacob and Mary had at least 3 children. These children are Mary Elizabeth, James and Hiram.
Jacob was enumerated on the 1810 census for Shepherds Town, Jefferson County, Virginia as Jacob Loy, aged between 26 and 44. Based on ages, it is possible that the following were also living in the household: Mary, his wife, aged between 16 and 25; Mary and James, aged newborn to ten years old. I have not been able to identify these people that were also enumerated with him: one female under 10.³ Follow the link to see the census image. Between 1823 and 1824, Jacob and Mary moved to Ohio.¹ He is the grandson of Johann Andreas Mühlschlägel, original immigrant.
