Anson Wickham
b. circa 1807
Last Edited=29 Jun 2004

Anson Wickham was born circa 1807 in New York.1,2 Anson married Nancy (?).3 Anson and Nancy may have had numerous children but I only know the name of one child, James.
Anson was enumerated on the 1840 census for Monroe County, Ohio as Anson Wickham, a male aged between 30 and 40 years old. Based on ages, it is possible that the following were also living in the household: Nancy, his wife, aged between 30 and 40 years old; Samuel, aged newborn to five years old. I have not been able to identify these people that were also enumerated with him: two girls aged under five; and one female aged between 5 and 10.4 Follow the link to see the census image. 1840 U.S. Census, Union Township, Monroe County, Ohio, page 79
Anson, age 57, and Nancy, age 51, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census the Cedar Bluff Post Office in Linn Township, Cedar County, Iowa. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Samuel (age 21, a farmer with $400 in personal estate), James (aged 16, a farm laborer), and Hannah (age 14, attends school). Enumerated next door is Andrew Milslagel and his family. Living with Andrew are two other Wickhams, Isaac and William. Their relationship to this Wickham family is not known.5 Follow the link to see the census image. 1860 U.S. Census, Linn, Cedar County, Iowa, population schedule, page 222
Anson, age 61, and Nancy, age 62, were enumerated on the 1870 Federal Census in Mechanicsville, Cedar County, Iowa. Also enumerated in this household were James (their son, age 24) and William, age 11 months and Sarah, age 18, (relationships unknown ). I suspect that Sarah is James' wife and William is James and Sarah's son.3 Anson worked as a farm labor. His personal estate is valued at $100 and his real estate is valued at $400.
