Emma Rafferty Mulhern
     Emma Rafferty was born on 29 July 1875 in Kentucky.2 She was the daughter of Edward Rafferty and Amanda Reynolds.1 Emma, age 6, was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1880 Federal Census in Elyton & Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.3 Follow the link to see the census image. Emma married John Mulhern, son of James Mulhern, on 9 August 1892 at St. Lawrence Church in Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio.2 Follow the link to see their wedding invitation and wedding certificate.2 Emma and John had 3 children. These children are Charles Patrick, Margaret and Leo. At some point they moved to Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.2 John died on 28 March 1909, leaving Emma a widow.1
          Emma, age 34, was enumerated on the 1910 Federal Census at 517 W. 5th Street in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. Also enumerated in this household was her daughter, Margaret (age 15). Her eldest son, Charles, has enlisted in the Navy and is enumerated on-board the U.S.S. Delaware. I do not know where her other son, Leo, age about 9, is living.           Emma, age 44, was enumerated on the 1920 Federal Census at 532 Clark Street in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.5 Emma worked as a helper in a restaurant. Follow the link to see the census image.
          Emma, age 54, was enumerated on the 1930 Federal Census at 206 Mastin Ave in Upper Township, Lawrence County, Ohio. Also enumerated in this household two roomers, William and Rebecca Salber, both aged 59. She owns her house which was valued at $6000.
