Amanda Reynolds was born on 8 April 1855 in Kentucky.2 She was the daughter of Catherine Howell.1 Her birthplace on the 1920 census is given as South Carolina and her age is 62 which gives her an estimated birth year of 1858.3 Amanda married Edward Rafferty, son of John Rafferty and Ann Ross, on 30 September 1871 in Ohio. He was 18 and she was 16.1 Amanda and Edward had at least 8 children. Only 7 children were alive in 1900. Another child died before 1910. Only some of their names are known. Right now the evidence linking this family to my Raffertys is circumstantial but it does fit together and they are the only Edward and Amanda Raffertys I have been able to locate on the 1880 census.4 Follow the link to see the census image.
