     Leendart Dalenberg was born on 23 March 1855 in Roseland, Cook County, Illinois.1 He was the son of Pieter Dalenberg and Lijntje Vanderszijde. Leendart, age 5, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1860 Federal Census for the Blue Island Post Office in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois.2 Follow the link to see the census image. Leonard, age 15, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1870 Federal Census for the Calumet Post Office in Hyde Park, Cook County, Illinois. He is not marked for attending school and he does not have an occupation listed.3 His name has also been given as Lane.4
          Leendart married Pietertje Vandenberg on 14 November 1877 in Cook County, Illinois.5 They had at least 11 children but only the name of one is known, Leonard.6
          In 1878, Lane and Pietertje moved to Three Oaks Village, Berrien County, Michigan.1 Lane became a "prosperous farmer."1 Lane Dalenberg was a member of the Holland Reform Church where he was Deacon for four years.1 Lane died on 9 February 1906 in Three Oaks Village.1 He was buried at Riverside Cemetery in Three Oaks Village, Berrien County, Michigan.6 He was 50 old.
