     Maartje Kuijper was born on 1 February 1852 probably in Cook County, Illinois.¹ She was the daughter of Cornelius Kuijper and Maartje Dalenberg.¹ She is their third daughter with the name of Maartje. The other two children died young. Maartje Kuijper was also known as Mary and as Martha.¹ Maartje, age 8, was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1860 Federal Census for the Blue Island Post Office in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois.² Follow the link to see the census image.           Maartje married Nicholas Roogeveen, son of Cornelis Roogeveen and (?) Hoogboven.¹ Maartje and Nicholas had 2 children. Their names are Mattie C. and Gearitt M. These children have not been entered in this database.¹ Maartje died in 1920.¹ She was about 68 old.
