     Pietertje Kuijper was born on 26 February 1859 probably in Cook County, Illinois.1 She was the daughter of Cornelius Kuijper and Maartje Dalenberg.1 She is their second child with the name of Pietertje. The first one died when her family crossed the Atlantic. Pietertje, age 2, was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1860 Federal Census for the Blue Island Post Office in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois.2 Follow the link to see the census image. Pietertje, age 11, was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1870 Federal Census for the Calumet Post Office in Hyde Park, Cook County, Illinois.3 Follow the link to see the census image.
          Pietertje married Jan Brandt, son of Jan Brandt and Eelke De Long.1 Jan died on 13 November 1929, leaving Pietertje a widow.1 Pietertje died on 25 February 1937.1 She was 77 old.
