The Mulherns and Raffertys of Lawrence County, Ohio
Abraham Madderom (M) (17 January 1835 - 11 October 1905) Last Edited=17 Mar 2005 Abraham Madderom was born on 17 January 1835 in the Netherlands.2 He was the son of Pieter Madderom and Grietje Zwager.1 Abraham married Jantje De Jong, daughter of Pieter De Jong and Trijnte Dalenberg, in 1860 in Roseland, Cook County, Illinois. He was about 25 and she was about 21.2 Abraham and Jantje had at least 9 children. These children are Jan, Trijntje, Grietje, Peter, Cornelius, Abraham A., Trijntje, Mary and Anna.2
Abraham, age 25, and Jane, age 21, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census for the Blue Island Post Office in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. The record does not indicate that they were married within the year so I wonder if the 1860 wedding date is correct or if there was an omission on the census. Their farm is worth $500 and his personal property is valued at $200.3 Abraham worked as a farmer.3 Follow the link to see the census image. Abraham, age 35, and Jane, age 31, were enumerated on the 1870 Federal Census for the Calumet Post Office in Hyde Park, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Peter (age 9), John (also known as Jan - age 7), Margaret (also known as Grietje - age 6), and Cornelius (age 3). Missing is their daughter, Trijntje who would have been about 8. I believe she may be dead.4 Abraham worked as a farmer. His real estate is worth $2000 and his personal estate is valued at $500.4 Follow the link to see the census image. Abraham died on 11 October 1905.2 He was 70 old.
