Lijntje Maat (F) (23 March 1837 - 14 January 1884) Last Edited=7 Jun 2005 Lijntje Maat was born on 23 March 1837 in the Netherlands.1 She was the daughter of Teunis Maat and Aartje (?). Lijntje Maat immigrated sometime before 1858. I wonder if her family immigrated on board the ship Massachusetts of Boston with the De Jongs.
Lijntje married Dirk De Jong, son of Pieter De Jong and Trijnte Dalenberg, in 1858 in Roseland, Cook County, Illinois.1 Lijntje and Dirk had at least 6 children. These children are Arthur, Peter, Ella, Catharine, Tunis and Jacob.1 Dirk, age 20, and Lijntje, age 22, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census for the Blue Island Post Office in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. Their farm is valued at $500 and his personal property was worth $200.2 Follow the link to see the census image. Derick, age 30, and Lijntje, age 31, were enumerated on the 1870 Federal Census for the Calumet Post Office in Hyde Park, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Peter (age 9), Ella (age 8), Catharine (age 7), Tunis (age 5), and Jacob (age 2).3 Follow the link to see the census image. Lijntje died on 14 January 1884.1 She was 46 old.
