     Gerhard De Young was born circa 1839 in the Netherlands.¹
          Gerhard and Allen De Young were enumerated on the 1860 census for the Blue Island Post Office in Blue Island Post Office, Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. I think they might be brothers. Gerhard is 21 and is the head of household. His farm is valued at $500 and his personal estate is worth $150.
