Dirk De Young (M)
(circa 1842 - )
Last Edited=21 May 2005

Dirk De Young was born circa 1842 in the Netherlands.1 He was the son of Jacob De Young and Gertrude (?).
Jacob De Young and Gertrude (?) and their children immigrated between 1844 and 1850 to the United States of America. This is the same timeframe that known DeYoung relatives came on board the ship Massachusetts. I wonder how they might be related. Dirk, age 7, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1850 Federal Census in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. He was enumerated as Derrick.2 Follow the link to see the census image. Dirk, age 17, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1860 Federal Census for the Blue Island Post Office in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. His occupation is listed as farming.1 Follow the link to see the census image.
