Last Edited=21 May 2005

Hank De Young was born circa 1844 in the Netherlands.1 He was the son of Jacob De Young and Gertrude (?).
Jacob De Young and Gertrude (?) and their children immigrated between 1844 and 1850 to the United States of America. This is the same timeframe that known DeYoung relatives came on board the ship Massachusetts. I wonder how they might be related. Hank, age 6, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1850 Federal Census in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. He was enumerated as Henick.1 Follow the link to see the census image. Hank, age 16, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1860 Federal Census for the Blue Island Post Office in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. His occupation is farming.2 Follow the link to see the census image.
Hank married Margaret (?).3 Hank and Margaret had at least 2 children. These children are Gertrude and Henry.3
Hank, age 25, and Margaret, age 25, were enumerated on the 1870 Federal Census for the Calumet Post Office in Hyde Park, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were two children, Gertrude (age 3) and Henry (age 8 months). Harry's real estate was valued at $3000 and his personal property was worth $500.3 Hank worked as a farmer. Follow the link to see the census image.
