     Peter De Young was born circa 1836 in the Netherlands.1 He was the son of Henry De Young and Gage (?). The family immigrated sometime between 1844 and 1849 to the United States of America.2 Peter, age 14, was enumerated in the household of Gage and Henry De Young (his suspected aunt and uncle) on the 1850 Federal Census in Thornton Township, Cook County, Illinois.1 Follow the link to see the census image.
