     Lith Gouwens was born circa 1811 in the Netherlands.1 Lith married Asnyetta (?). Lith and Asnyetta had at least 7 children. These children are Harry, Johanah, Mary, Henry, Jon, Ejaah and William A.. Lith, Asnyetta and their children immigrated about mid-year in 1849.1
          Lith, age 39, and Asnyetta, age 39, were enumerated on the 1850 Federal Census in Thornton Township, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were Ejaah (age 14), Harry (age 13), Johanah (age 11), Mary (age 10), Henry (age 7), William (age 2) and Jon (age 1).
