Nicolaus Klaas Madderom1 (M) (5 November 1819 - 18 July 1902) Last Edited=17 Mar 2005 Nicolaus Klaas Madderom was born on 5 November 1819 in Broek op Langedijk, Noord Holland, Netherlands.1 He was the son of Cornelis Klaasz Madderom and Cornelia Vroegop.1
Nicolaus married Trijintje Ton, daughter of Jan Ton and Pietertje Stam, on 13 January 1841.1 Nicolaus and Trijintje had at least 6 children. These children are Jan, Cornelia, Peterje, Cornelius Klaus, Abraham and Trijntje. Nicolaus and Catherine, along with their children, John, Cornelia, and Peterje came to America sometime after Peterje was born (circa 1855).2 Nicolaus, age 40, and Catherine, age 45, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census for the Blue Island Post Office in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were people that I believe are their children: John (age 16), Cornelia (age 15), Peterje (age 6), Cornelius (age 5), and Abraham (age 3).2 Follow the link to see the census image. Catherine died on 9 September 1867, leaving Nicolaus a widower.1 Nicolaus married Mrs. Jane Dilia.3 Nicolaus, age 50, and Jane, age 54, were enumerated on the 1870 Federal Census for the Calumet Post Office in Hyde Park, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were Nicolaus' children: Cornelius (age 15), Peterje (age 17), Abraham (age 13), and Catherina (age 9). His eldest children, John, age 26, and Cornelia, age 25, are not enumerated in this household. Jane's daughter from a previous marriage, Martha Dilia, is also living here.3 Nicolaus worked as a farmer. His real estate is valued at $4500 and his personal estate is valued at $600.3 Follow the link to see the census image. Nicolaus died on 18 July 1902 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.1 He was 82 old.
