Arie De Jong was born on 7 September 1823 in the Netherlands.1 He was the son of Hendrick De Jongh (III) and Geertje De Vries.1 At some point, Arie immigrated from the Netherlands the United States.2 Two brothers, Jan and Arie De Jong married two sisters, Anna and Teuntje.1 Arie married Anna Van Vuuren, daughter of Roel Van Vuuren and Grietje Baardwijk, on 3 December 1848.
Arie, age 47, and Anna, age 48, were enumerated on the 1870 Federal Census for the South Holland Post Office in Thornton Township, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were two children, Margaret (age 14) and Rose (age 12). Their real estate was worth $3200 and the personal property was valued at $800.2 Arie worked as a farmer.2 Follow the link to see the census image. Arie died on 3 February 1903.1 He was 79 old. Arie and Ary may be the same person. I only know a little about either of them. But Aire (born 1823) lives where I would expect Arie (born circa 1820) to live at the 1860 census. Both of them have wives named Anna. This will need additional research to determine.1
