Jan Cornelius Ton¹ (M)

     Jan Cornelius Ton was born on 30 May 1826 in Akersloot, Noord Holland, Netherlands.¹ He was the son of Jan Ton and Pietertje Stam.¹ Jan, age 22, was enumerated in the household of Peter Dalenberg (his employer) on the 1850 Federal Census in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. It has been reported that Jan was a farm hand for the Dalenberg family in Holland and that he immigrated on the same ship as Peter.² Follow the link to see the census image. Jan married Aggje Vandersyde, daughter of Leendert Van Der Zijde and Lintje Van Steenberg, on 1 April 1853.¹ They had 21 children. Many of these children died in infancy. Their children were:, Jan, Cornelius, Leendert, Pieter, Cornelius, Elizabeth, Maria, L., Trijntje, Lijntje, Trijntje, Trijntje, Goris, Goris, Cornelius, Nellie, Goris J., Dirk J., Cornelius, Arie and Aagje.¹ Jan worked as a fisherman and a farmer.¹ Jan died on 4 June 1896 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.¹ He was 70 old.
