     Arnold A. Dalenberg was born on 16 September 1895 in South Holland, Cook County, Illinois.1 He was the son of Arie Dalenberg and Aaltje Baardwijk.2 Arnold, age 4, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1900 Federal Census at Chicago Road in Thornton Township, Cook County, Illinois.3 Follow the link to see the census image. Arnold, age 14, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1910 Federal Census in South Holland. He has attended school this census year.4 Follow the link to see the census image. Arnold worked as a farmer employed by his father.1
          Due to a need for men to serve during World War I, the United States instituted a draft. The first registration was for men between the ages of 21 and 31. As a result, this first registration included men born between June 5, 1886 and June 5, 1896. Arnold filled out a draft card on 5 June 1917 in Thornton, Cook County, Illinois. He was 21 years old and described as being tall, having a medium build, blue eyes and light colored hair.1
          Arnold married Minnie (?) circa 1919.5 Arnold and Minnie had at least 3 children. These children are Otto John, Jane and Elva.
          Arnold, age 24, and Minnie, age 24, were enumerated on the 1920 Federal Census in Thornton. They own their farm with a mortgage. They were enumerated in the household above his parents' residence.6 Arnold worked as a farmer.6 Follow the link to see the census image.
          Arnold, age 33, and Minnie, age 33, were enumerated on the 1930 Federal Census at State Street in South Holland, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Otto John (age 8), Jane (age 4 years, 11 months), and Elva (age 1 year, 3 months). They own their house which was valued at $7000 and they own a radio. Arnold is not a military veteran.5 Arnold worked as a farmer.5 Follow the link to see the census image.
