Ann Rafferty was born in May 1850 in Connecticut.2 She was the daughter of John Rafferty and Ann Ross.1
In 1853, Ann moved with her parents to Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio.1 Ann, age 10, was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1860 Federal Census in Ironton.1 Follow the link to see the census image. Annie, age 20, was enumerated in the household of Anna and Thomas Rafferty (her sister-in-law and brother) on the 1870 Federal Census in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio. Her mother and several siblings were enumerated here as well.3 Follow the link to see the census image.
Ann married Michael Chishen between March 1880 and April 1884 in Lawrence County, Ohio.4 Ann and Michael had at least 5 children but only 4 were living at the time of the 1900 census. I only know the names of two of these children. These children are Mary and James.2 Her name has also been given as Annie.4
Michael, age 49, and Ann, age 50, were enumerated on the 1900 Federal Census at 443 Second Street in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. Also enumerated in this household were their children, Mary (age 14) and James (age 11). Anna's brother, James Rafferty, age 46, also lives with them.2 Follow the link to see the census image.
