     James Rafferty was born in April 1852 in Connecticut.2 He was the son of John Rafferty and Ann Ross.1
          John, Ann and their children moved to Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio sometime after their son, James, was born in April of 1853.1 James, age 8, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1860 Federal Census in Ironton.1 Follow the link to see the census image. James, age 46, was enumerated in the household of his sister Ann, and brother-in-law, Michael Chishen, on the 1900 Federal Census at 443 Second Street in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.
