Speculation as to the Identity of Joseph & Elizabeth

PERHAPS this couple:

Joseph TILBURY m. Elizabeth BELCH 26 November 1812 Little Missenden, Buckinghamshire
by banns - both of this parish - witness: HEARN

Whether or not the above couple were Thomas of Chalfont's parents, it is probable that the Joseph & Elizabeth listed below had a child prior to the birth of Mary c.1816 (if, as was usual, they married at about age 20).

Chalfont St. Peter in 1811

From "A topographical Dictionary of England" by Samuel Lewis

Chalfont (St. Peter's), a parish, in the union of Amersham, hundred of Burnham, county of Buckingham, 4 miles (E. by N.) from Beaconsfield; containing 1416 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, endowed with part of the rectorial tithes, and valued in the king's books at £15.17.1.; present net income, £600; patrons, President and Fellows of St. John's College, Oxford; the remainder of the great tithes belong to three proprietors of land in the parish. The church, rebuilt in 1726, is a plain brick edifice, with quoins and window and door-cases of stone brought from the ruins of the Roman station of Verulam, now St. Alban's: it contains some ancient gravestones with brasses. This parish is intersected by a tributary stream of the Colne, called Missbourne, upon which there is a silk-mill, affording employment to about 50 women. The petty sessions for the division are holden here. At Gerrard's Cross the Earl of Portland built a school, which is supported by his descendant, who appoints the master, paying him a salary for teaching poor boys of this and the adjoining parishes; and a fund is now accumulating for the purpose of endowing another school.
