__________

1915: Kelly's Directory of Buckinghamshire
- Thomas TILBURY, shopkeeper, Penn
- Frederick TILBURY, farmer, Hazlemere
- Thomas TILBURY, brick maker, Hazlemere

Note (1)

FreeBMD gives two registrations for a David TILBURY:
- b. 4Q 1848 Wycombe (6/422); and
- b. 1Q 1849 Wycombe (6/489).
Was this one or 2 Davids; 1848 died? 1851 gives David as 2 yrs old.

1Q 1884: David TILBURY m. [Hannah Martha LEE] Chelsea (1a/429).
1901: Battersea, London:
- David TILBURY age 37 b. Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire (Carman).
1901: St Luke, London:
- Hannah TILBURY age 37 b. Aldershot, [Herts];
- William TILBURY age 8 b. Whitechapel, London.

Note (2)

No trace to date of a 'Clementine' TILBURY:
- Clementine's husband's name was William, as Mary Ann's KENINGALE husband;
- her putative children have the same names as Mary Ann's KENINGALE children.
No trace of any PENNINGALE or PENINGALE: IGI, online BMD, websites, Censuses....

ONS surname count in UK as at September 2002 gives the following:
- KENINGALE: count = 90; ranking = 35,355th;
- PEN(N)INGALE: count = 0.
http://www.taliesin-arlein.net/names/search.php

Probability:
- these were William & Mary Ann's KENINGALE children.
(In 1901 Mary seems to have still been alive; no trace of a death so far (to c.1909) for Mary Ann, nor a second marriage for William KENINGALE.)

Hypothesis:
- PRO lists a Catherine Ellen TILBURY, b. 2Q 1891 Chelsea (1a/394);
- 'Clementine' MIGHT have been a contraction of Catherine Ellen.
If that were so, then there is a possibility that:
- Mary (m. KENINGALE) died c.1910;
- her younger sister cared for the children.

Note (3)

From SarahK's research: the 1891 Census lists a child 'Nellie' age 8 yrs, with (Joseph) Henry, Emma & TILBURY family. This would seem to have been Ellen Sarah, who in PRO listings appears also as Eliza Sarah TILBURY. It is unlikely that the family would have given the name 'Nellie' to a child baptised as Eliza; was the listing of 'Eliza Sarah' a misreading, or was this Nellie the child of another family member?
