I have not as yet found entries for the BOUQUET family's passage to Australia, but it seems probable that Ernest left UK during 1900, or very early in 1901 - and that his wife and children joined him later?

Teddy BOUQUET b. Australia, photo undated, unplaced
(Ethel's shadow and handwriting?).

When I was a small child, and Heathrow airport a small place, Ernest BOUQUET and daughter Jessie came to visit. As many as possible of the TAYLORs went to the airport to meet them, and they arrived at night, exhausted after such a long journey by turbo-prop. plane.

At one of the TAYLOR Saturday evening get-togethers, Great-Uncle Ernest showed us his Mason's apron and regalia which he had brought with him.

The GRO Index lists: Ernest Edward BOUQUET d. 1Q 1971 (Southwark 5e/35) (b. 10 January 1876)
Ernest Edward Richard BOUQUET's birth is given as 1Q 1878; FreeBMD has no other Ernest BOUQUET between 1Q 1870 and 4Q 1881.

So far as I was able to ascertain, Jessie remained in England, and I think with her husband ran a hotel in the south-east. Christmas cards arrived each year, but my enquiries to the parents received sniffs and little other reply! Many years later, myself a professional dancer, I was told privately - in the kitchen over the washing-up - that Jessie had been an adagio-dancer, that it had been thought not the thing to tell me. On my regretting that I hadn't known earlier, surprise was expressed that she might have been able to give me some good advice for my own career! I was never able to learn where she lived or had lived, her married name. (C.)
