The Creditors of John Hindle, Esq., Deceased


The London Gazette, 17 March 1857

PURSUANT to a Decree of the High Court of Chancery, made in a cause Bouquet against Waller, the creditors of John Hindle, late of Nelson Lodge, Stoke Newington, in the county of Middlesex, Gentleman, deceased, the testator in the pleadings in this cause named, who died on or about the 9th day of June, 1854, are, by their Solicitors, on or before the 18th day of April, 1857, to come in and prove their debts, at the chambers of the Vice-Chancellor Sir Richard Torin Kindersley, situate at No. 3, Stone-buildings, Lincoln's-inn, in the county of Middlesex, or in default thereof they will be peremptorily excluded from the benefit of the said Decree. Tuesday, the 21st day of April, 1857, at twelve o'clock at noon, at the said chambers, is appointed for hearing and adjudicating upon the said debts and claims.

TO be sold, pursuant to an Order of the High Court of Chancery, made in a cause of Bouquet v. Waller, with the approbation of the Vice-Chancellor, Sir Richard Torin Kindersley, the Judge to whose Court the said cause is attached, by Messrs. Prickett and Sons, the persons appointed for that purpose, at the Auction Mart opposite the Bank of England, on Wednesday the 23rd day of June, 1858, at twelve o'clock at noon, in seventeen lots:

- A freehold messuage, No. 62, Worship-street, Finsbury, Middlesex, let on lease at the annual rent of £21.
- A freehold messuage in Sussex-place, Marine-parade, Brighton, let on lease at the annual rent of £13 10s.
- Two leasehold detached residences, with stabling, pleasure grounds, lawns, and gardens, at Stamford Hill, Middlesex, respectively let on lease at the annual rents of £100 and £13 10s.
- Six leasehold houses, Grove-lane, Stamford-hill, and four semi-detached cottages in the rear, let on lease at the annual rent of £10.
- A detached leasehold residence, known as Grove Cottage, in Grove-lane, let on lease at the annual rent of £50.
- A leasehold improved annual ground rent of £29, arising out of land and buildings in and near Wellington-street, Stoke Newington respectively, let on leases at rents amounting together to the annual sum of £46 15s.
- Three several leasehold improved annual ground rents of £20 10s., £16 15s. and £15 respectively, arising out of houses in Wellington-street aforesaid, respectively let on leases at rents amounting to the annual sums of £27, £22, and £21.
- A leashold improved anuual ground rent of £14 5s. arising out of two cottages called Laburnham Cottages, and four houses in John-street South, Wellington-street, let on leases at rents amounting to the annual sum of £10 5s., with leasehold ground estimated at £7 per annum, and the leasehold interest in ground in the rear of Shacklewell-lane, after expiration of present underlease.
- Two several leasehold improved annual ground rents of £10 10s. and £11 13s., arising out of 20 houses in Hindlestreet, Wellington-street respectively, let on leases at rents amounting together to the annual sums of £13 10s. and £16 13s.
- A leasehold improved annual ground rent of £7, arising out of houses in Hiudle-street, and John-street, let on leases for rents amounting together to the annual sum of £9.
- Two several improved annual ground rents of £10 and £7, arising out of houses in Brown's-place, John-street, Wellington-street respectively, let on leases at the annual rents of £16 and £9, and
- Two several leasehold improved annual ground rents, of £7 and £9 10s., arising out of ground and premises Johnstreet North, and Hindle-street, and John-street, Wellington-street, respectively let on leases at rents amounting together to the annual sums of £9 and £13 10s.

TO be sold, pursuant to an Order of the High Court of Chancery in a suit of Bouquet v. Waller, with the approbation of his Honour the Vice-Chancellor Sir Richard Malins, at the Auction Mart, Tokenhouse-yard. by Messrs. Prickett and Son, on Thursday, the 22nd May, 1873, at one for two o'clock precisely, in one lot:-

A freehold estate, land tax redeemed, situate close to the Stoke Newington-road, in the parish of Stoke Newington, Middlesex, comprising about four acres of land suitable for building purposes, with the buildings thereon, viz.,
- a messuage or dwelling-house known as Nelson Lodge, and 28 cottages, Nos. 1 to 28 (both inclusive), in Cock and Castlelane;
- a cottage, No. 1, Upper Prospect-place, with stables and buildings in the rear, Back-road, Kingsland, and
- a cottage in John's-place.
The estate has a right of way 20 feet wide from Stoke Newington-road, also a right of way on the west side of the estate leading to Back-road, Kingsland, With another right of way up John's-place, in addition to the frontage to Cock and Castle-lane. The cottages in Cock and Castle-lane, and the cottage in Upper Prospect-place, and the stables and buildings in the rear are let to weekly tenants, and the rest of the property is let on tenancies which will expire on the 29th September next.

The Victoria County History (online), referring to Hackney, Shacklewell, mentions John HINDLE:

"In 1811 six or more fourth-class houses were to be built almost opposite by John Hindle of Kingsland Crescent; he had secured an adjoining part of Cock and Castle field, which stretched to the high road."
