GREAT KINGSHILL

A Local Hero

"On Monday afternoon last, Mr. Tilbury of Great Kingshill was informed by the War Office that his son, Private J. Tilbury, of the Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, had been killed in action on October 4th.
At the time that he fell he was serving his last year as a reservist; he had previously served 8 years with the Colours, six of those being spent in India.
Deceased was well known and was a great favourite among the young men at Great Kingshill; he was a good sportsman, and a keen playing member of the cricket club.
The greatest sympathy is extended to his parents, brothers and sisters in their sad bereavement."
