The Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies offers a wealth of documents and information about our ancestors. This includes notes from the Justices' casebooks at Quarter Sessions, which mostly dealt with petty crime - theft to have enough food, or perhaps to make a little money by selling or pawning? The predominance of some items, and the absence of others (e.g. beer, eggs), together with their almost unchanged value over five years, caught my interest - C.
