[2341] Another source gives his place of birth as Randolph County, NorthCarolina.
[2342] He was originally buried in the Crenshaw Cemetery, but was laterreinterred due to the construction of Lake Keowee.
[2343] Also living in his household at that time was what appears to be anadopted daughter, Martha Reese, age 12, born South Carolina.
[9882] This is calculated on the birthdate of the first known child of thismarriage.
[2225]
On May 21, 1798, she made a Deed of Gift to her son in law, AmbroseCobb; the same date on which she married Morris Cox. This action inessence protected the inheritence due her children by Thomas Blackfrom any claim that might be made by Morris Cox. This was recorded inthe Lincoln County Court of Pleas for the October 1799, QuarterSession.
[2226] She was enumerated as the head of her own household, living next doorto one Ephram Black (relationship unknown). In addition to herselfthere was one male under sixteen years of age and two other females.
[9694] This based on the only known birth date of a child of this marriage.

[4540] [NOTE: The William & Mary Quarterly Magazine, Vol XXII, No 1 (Jul1913), has an extensive pedigree on the Stith family, by ArmisteadGordon. He stated that Joseph Blair Skinner was killed in action atthe Battle of Sharpsburg, Maryland, on 17 Sep 1862. However, in acontinuation of the article in a subsequent issue (Vol XXII, No 3, Jan1914, he also revealed that Skinner's Will was PROVED in Court someten years earlier. Therefore obviously, the information concerninghis death during the War Between the States is an error. Most likely, the individual killed in 1862, was Joseph Skinner, Jr. However, nosuch individual by that name is recorded by Gordon.]
[4541] This instrument was proved during the Feb 1852 court term, indicatinghe had died in the intermin.
[10174] He was a resident of Chowan County, North Carolina, at the time ofthis marriage.
