He was reported missing in action in a skirmish at Ripley, Mississippi June 11, 1864.
He died as a prison of war at Andersonville, Macon, Georgia (Rebel Prison)
on 26 September 1864 from Diarrhea Chronic.
He is buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery Grave 9820.
His mother Susan applied for a Mother's Army Pension on 31 August 1865, her age is listed as 53 years old. She was awarded $8.00 as a monthly pension.
